As a technical member of Qualcomms Engineering IT team, you will be responsible for executing on strategic business objectives focused on improving the effective utilization of the compute resources while meeting or exceeding customer service level agreements for job prioritization, job concurrency, and job throughput in our EDA compute clusters.

As an individual contributor you will share the responsibilities for grid services reliability, availability, and performance.

The ideal candidate has strong verbal and written communication skills, thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple and diverse projects, and will be recognized as an up-and-coming thought leader with strong execution ability.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Performing cluster configuration changes to meet baseline objectives, priority adjustments, or capacity updates.

Upgrading or patching core and custom developed software.

Creating new LSF environments to include installing the software, establishing the initial configuration per the plan, and monitoring the initial deployment to insure it meets the customer objectives.

Setting up test environments and performing simulations on proposed changes.

Collaborating with EDA, Engineering and IT stakeholders to establish new solutions.

Developing and refining scripts for service management and event handling.

Triaging systems and service issues, as well as being an escalation point for resolving complex user issues.

Some of the projects you work on may involve:

EDA Cloud Enablement

Distributed GPGPU resource management

Container solutions integration

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years IT-relevant work experience OR 7+ years IT-relevant work experience without a bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated proficiency with Job Scheduling systems / DRMS, ideally in an HPC environment – IBM LSF Suite, Univa Grid Engine, NC, Slurm or similar.

Extensive knowledge of Unix operating systems, commands, utilities, and supporting infrastructure services.

Advanced scheduling techniques research & implementation experiences.

Current knowledge of LSF capabilities, container integration techniques, and cloud enablement approaches.

Skilled in OS instrumentation and performance analysis, including network, storage, and OS/kernel debug, preferably in containers.

Ability to troubleshoot both system and user workflow issues to the root cause level.

A pragmatic programmer who looks for opportunities to code solutions to common tasks or repeat events.

Advanced source control management, preferably using Git.

Hands-on ASIC design or EDA/CAD experience or classroom learning, and/or demonstrated knowledge of ASIC design flow from synthesis to GDSII.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Required.
