**Job Description:**

**Basic Purpose-**



+ Proactively support research and development efforts to continually introduce new products for both the food service and retail markets.
+ Assist in the creation of bench-scale prototypes and evaluate and present results to management.
+ Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Quality Assurance and Sales to ensure quality parameters, cost, and project goals are met.
+ Champion introduction of new products including plant trials, vendor product evaluation, labeling and specification creation and maintenance, and internal and external product database maintenance.
+ Perform quality and shelf life testing for all potential new and applicable current products. Report results to management.
+ Input and maintain accuracy of data for all new and current products in internal and customer databases.
+ Support sample process by assembling and shipping applicable samples and maintaining sample logs and databases.
+ Support shipping process by assembling and shipping applicable special shipments as needed.
+ Support operations by maintaining accurate product labels and label databases.
+ Actively participate in trade shows and conduct customer and internal presentations as needed.
+ Maintain communication with sales team, follow-up on customer requests, report results to management
+ Review quality concerns with Quality Assurance Technicians
+ Maintain Standard Operating Procedures
+ Maintain a food safe environment, complying with all regulatory agencies
+ Support special events and activities.
+ Effectively communicate to Management any issues or concerns
+ Other duties as assigned

+ High School graduate or equivalent required
+ Degree or Certification in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or other related majors preferred
+ Excellent command of Food Science; knowledge of Nutrition Software (Genesis/ESHA preferred)
+ Familiar with FDA and USDA guidelines and experience in nutritional and labeling requirements preferred
+ Strong analytical, written, verbal, interpersonal and project management skills
+ Ability to travel (up to 25%)

+ Ability to lift and handle products up to 50#
+ Willingness to work in a cold, wet environment for extended periods of time
+ Willingness to work alternate shifts or days as work load dictates
