The La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians is seeking highly motivated, journey-level candidates to work on several Public Works construction projects. Must have experience in some or all of the above positions. Include in the application your years of experience in similar construction.
Salary: $15.00 to $24.00/hour, depending on project position.
Work on various construction projects for the Public Works Department.
Operate heavy equipment including backhoe, water truck, dump truck, loader, etc.
Set concrete forms, form rebar, pour concrete, finish concrete, lay bricks, etc.
Install water pipe, irrigation pipe, sewer pipe, valves, fittings, etc.
Operate and inspect a variety of tools and equipment for safety and mechanical defects.
Properly maintain and clean assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.
Able to effectively plan, organize and manage daily construction activities.
Assist in procurement and management of all rental / tribal tools and equipment.
Able to effectively communicate work progress and challenges to the Field Supervisor.
Able to lift up to 80 pounds and assist with loading / unloading of heavy materials.
Able to work outdoors all day, in all types of weather conditions.
Two or more years’ experience working on Public Works construction projects.
Organizational and management skills that apply to Public Works construction.
Knowledge of best management practices (BMPs) that apply to various projects.
Must be able to follow directions and to work with minimal supervision.
Certification as a Water Operator is helpful but not required.
Reporting and recordkeeping experience is helpful.
Preference will be given to the most qualified individuals.
Must have a Valid California Driver’s License.
