The Airfield Electrician performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of airfield lighting systems and some airport navigational aids with strict compliance to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and recommendations. Performs routine tasks involving maintenance and repair of high voltage (up to 5000 volts) runway and taxiway edge lights, lighted signs, PAPI’s, and REILS. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on airfield lighting system equipment in accordance with FAA guidelines. Performs routine repairs and maintenance on airport emergency generators. Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair and installation of commercial building electrical systems. Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of low voltage control systems. Prepares and updates work orders and material requisition forms. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification(s) Required: High school, GED or equivalent and five (5) years of electrical journeyman level experience in high voltage airfield lightening maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Valid Driver’s License is required.
Preferred/Desirable Qualification(s): Completion of AAE ACE Airfield Lighting Maintenance Program.
