**Job Overview** We seek a 3GPP System Engineer with demonstrated experience in wireless system design and standardization, with a focus on NR, LTE, and their evolution.

The focus of the job is design and standardization of 3GPP NR radio access features at the PHY level (3GPP RAN WG1). The job also includes contributing to planning aspects in RAN1, as well as contributing to the company strategy for 3GPP radio features (3GPP RAN area) in general.

The candidate is expected to directly participate in team design activities, studying design issues related to the latest NR features and working on innovative solutions to them, as well as to develop technical contributions based on those designs, and to work to obtain consensus in the industry around them to promote Qualcomm wireless technologies.

The candidate is also expected to work with the rest of the senior leadership of the Qualcomm 3GPP team, with 5G related research projects, and with other divisions, to lead and contribute to NR technologies in RAN1.

Attendance to 3GPP RAN1 is an essential part of the job. Consequently, the candidate is expected to be available to travel frequently for week-long meetings (on average 8 week-long meetings per year are to be expected, distributed between Europe, North America and Asia).

Attendance to 3GPP RAN working groups (or similar level industry group) may be required on a per-need basis.

The candidate will operate in collaboration with different business units within the company, including research projects and product groups. The candidate will work in an exciting environment with a team of some of the brightest systems engineers in the industry and will have frequent interaction with other engineering disciplines.

Preferred location for the position is San Diego, USA.

**Minimum Qualifications** 5+ years’ experience in the following:

+ Wireless radio technology principles

+ 3GPP system and of cellular features up to 3GPP Release 15

+ Wireless system design

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience in standardization working groups

+ A good understanding of end to end system design

+ A good understanding of key business concepts and being able to relate this to various business strategies for both Qualcomm and others in the industry

+ Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills is required.

+ Candidate should highlight any experience as an editor, rapporteur or chair of standards bodies.

+ Ability to work independently

**Education Requirements** PhD, Masters or equivalent mix of education and experience, in a field related to communications, preferable wireless (cellular) communications.
