**Job Overview**

Qualcomm provides highly integrated SoCs for mobile wireless handsets and handheld devices. Long battery life (i.e. low power consumption) and high performance are important for these types of devices.

As a member of the power architecture team you will help create the architecture for upcoming Qualcomm products. You will ensure that the architecture meets the requirements for power, thermal and limits management. The rich functionality and high levels of integration in Qualcomm SoCs make this a challenging task. Creating the right architecture is vital to ensuring that devices powered by Qualcomm SoCs have the long battery life and high performance that customers expect. You will work with engineers across a range of disciplines and technologies. And you will have the opportunity, by improving battery life, to improve the user experience on the next generation of smartphones, tablets and other devices powered by Qualcomm chipsets.

**Responsibilities will include the some of the following:**

+ Participate in defining and communicating the architecture for power and thermal management for Qualcomm SoCs.

+ Find solutions to system level power management problems.

+ Work with hardware designers and systems engineers to understand the hardware design and gather software requirements.

+ Influence the hardware design to improve power consumption or simplify the power management software.

+ Work with software teams implementing the power management software to understand design challenges, provide guidance, and ensure the implementation matches the architecture.

+ Work with software teams implementing modules that are clients of the power management software to gather requirements and provide guidance.

+ Work with software teams to identify and fix performance bottlenecks that increase power consumption.

+ Design tools to identify and debug power consumption issues on development platforms and commercial devices.

**Minimum Qualifications** **5 to 12 years of industry experience in the following:**

+ Embedded software development on mobile devices

+ C/C+ **Preferred Qualifications**

+ Ability to approach problems at a system levelExperience in one or more of the following:

+ Device driver or board support package (BSP) knowledge or development experience

+ Experience with one or more RTOSs

+ Experience in 4G and/or 5G modem technologies

+ Experience in thermal management for mobile devices

+ Experience with a systems modeling language e.g. UML or SysML

+ Understanding to ARM processor architectures

**Education Requirements** Required: Bachelor’s, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
