Job Overview

Qualcomm’s Software Content Compliance Engineering team works with internal and external groups to manage their use of open source and third-party software. The team is a multi-disciplinary team with a variety of experience and skills. Your responsibility will be to support the applications and systems that Qualcomm depends on for our Open Source software release process.

Tasks will include designing, developing, and managing APIs, web services, queueing systems, automation and workflows to optimize the Open Source release process at Qualcomm. You will work in high level languages to interpret data relating to source code, products and releases to enable our large-scale automated operations. You will architect, develop, and troubleshoot integrations with existing engineering tools and systems, including administration and scripting activities in a Linux environment, reviewing data (SQL, Elastic Search, queueing systems) to troubleshoot, work with IT/release engineering to investigate issues in SCM environments and provide direct user support to our compliance and legal teams for integration issues.

You will work with Project Management and leadership to help define and capture project requirements, roadmaps, and sprint assignments and tasking for engineering/operation teams. You will interact directly with end-users and stakeholders across the company to resolve problems, provide information to the internal team and follow up with customers to provide support. You will work with external vendors to facilitate technical discussions, coordinate efforts across multiple internal teams, and help synthesize high-level concepts into detailed requirements and assignments. You will be required to learn and understand the workflows and processes in place for our scanning and compliance review work in order to effectively support the internal and external teams. You will be expected to communicate via telephone, email and web-based applications across the globe to ensure the resolution of issues, and document progress and conversations along the way.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

+ 5+ years Software Engineering or related work experience.

+ 2+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

+ 5+ years experience in developing web services, applications or automated workflows in Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby C# or other high-level languages.

+ 3+ years experience in the following areas:-Designing, implementing, and supporting RESTful APIs and web services-Relational databases and SQL (postgres/mysql) or document databases (e.g. SOLR/Elastic Search)-Source control tools like Git/GitHub, SVN and Perforce.-Ticketing systems such as Bugzilla, Redmine or Jira-Thorough understanding of web service, application and micro-service design and architectures. Experience with REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI, JSON API a plus.-Facility with a variety of programming languages; an understanding of programming language structure; excellent understanding of source control management (SCM) environments (Git, SVN, Perforce).

+ Understanding of software development management best practices and concepts (scrum, sprints, backlogs, roadmaps etc)

+ Experience managing a software project and small engineering team

+ Experience with message queues/buses such as AMQP, MQTT or TIBCO.

+ Experience with docker, container virtualization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.

+ Experience with automated deployment tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible.

+ Familiarity with a UNIX/Linux development environment.

+ Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and be able to work independently with little supervision

+ Strong analytic, communication and problem-solving skills.

+ Detail oriented and able to document your troubleshooting and resolutions accurately and thoroughly.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Science discipline.
