Job title: Transportation Administrative Assistant/Driver
Location: Pala, CA
Compensation: Minimum of $15.50/hour. DOE
Status: Full Time/Regular position
The Transportation Administrative Assistant/Driver is a full time position that will be responsible for transportation services for TANF participants attending work participation activities in San Diego County and south areas of Riverside County (such as Temecula). This includes picking up and driving clients to and from pre-determined locations, keeping accurate records, and performing other transportation tasks as needed. This person will need to be reliable, responsible, dependable, and able to develop methods from scratch.
Pick up and deliver participants (including adults and children) to and from various locations in San Diego County, including rural areas and reservations, for training, appointments and special activities.
Provide excellent customer service in a patient, friendly, and helpful manner.
Maintain accurate records of all trips, vehicle maintenance, mileage, persons riding in vehicle, and any incidents that occur.
Assist Transportation Manager by completing the following tasks: Switch SIM cards, Download SIM cards.
Schedule vehicle fleet maintenance, including car washes and tire care. Update vehicle maintenance on Google drive.
Train newly hired Drivers. Train all Drivers in equipment operation test procedures.
Schedule department meetings and trainings.
Create, update and maintain Driver’s schedules.
Department filing (i.e. vehicle reports, fiscal requests, etc.)
Inspect company vehicles for cleanliness, safety, and potential mechanical problems daily, and promptly report any needs or issues to the Transportation Manager.
Update and maintain inventory of vehicle equipment.
Provide backup for delivery of SCTCA interoffice mail, other drivers’ routes, or any other reasonable request made by the Transportation Manager.
Schedule and take vehicles in for routine service. Review and make sure all vehicle registration information and insurance information is current.
Confident driving in inclement weather and on rural roads, as well as freeways and city areas.
Will need to work flexible hours, including split shifts, and be able to adapt to a change in schedule, office location, route and job duties at a moment’s notice. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Certificates & Licenses: CPR and First Aid. Valid California C-class Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report at time of hire and continued throughout employment.
Skills: Intermediate to advanced use of computers including all Microsoft Office programs. Strong math and English skills.
Knowledge Requirements: Knowledge of all current California driving laws and driving safety rules, including defensive driving skills. Must possess general knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements. Must be familiar with general vehicle operation and vehicle parts. Familiar with Indian reservations in San Diego County where transportation services are provided.
Experience: Experience driving a passenger vehicle for business purposes, transporting people of various ages to different locations. Experience driving large vehicles. Entry level to intermediate experience with administrative functions. Experience developing complex schedules.
Physical: Be able to assist participants in and out of vehicle and into appointment location—able to lift and carry 40 pounds regularly. Drive on rural roads and freeways.
Conditions of Employment: Minimum 23 years of age, for auto insurance purposes. Candidates are required to successfully complete required background check, including Live Scan, and drug screening.

Be able to maintain heavy paperwork and processing in a fast-paced work environment.
Enjoy working independently.
Be thoroughly knowledgeable of applicable guidelines at all times.

Participate in various departmental meetings and/or committees.
Travel between office sites may be requested to assist with training coverage.
