The Suquamish Tribe is recruiting for a Child Support Financial Specialist in the Child Support Enforcement Department. The incumbent will perform financial accounting and child support distribution responsibilities for the Suquamish Child Support Program requiring program knowledge and utilizes independent judgment in assigned/defined areas proving services such as: determining the proper distribution of child support payments, preparing financial reports for enforcement remedies and other required reports, and reconciling child support accounts. Is knowledgeable of and may utilize the MTS or other automated case management system to process payments, distributes payments according to the Suquamish Tribes algorithm, post payments, identify payers, and create payment records.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, the use of accounting software including Excel and MIP as needed. Ability to use/learn the MTS system to process payments, create batches, post payments, identify payers, oversee the algorithm process for the accurate distribution of payments, payment records, and debt accuracy.
A Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance or other related field with emphasis in accounting or finance and one year of professional experience in the field of accounting or finance.
An Associate Arts or Associate Arts & Science Degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or other related field with an emphasis in accounting or finance and three years of professional experience in the field of accounting or finance.
Four years of experience as a case manager with knowledge of the major duties of financial specialist, including child support rules of distribution, calculation of support debt, and financial processing of child support payments.
State/Federal/Tribal Background check required
Valid WA State Driver’s License required
Pre-Employment drug testing required
Native American preference
