Job Overview

Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) is the largest developer of wireless communication technology in the world. Our ASIC modem design teams deliver cutting-edge hardware and software products across every established wireless standard and protocol. Individuals in this role are responsible for developing our next generation cellular modems in the following technologies: GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, WiFi and 5G. As a WLAN Modeling Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, implementing and unit-testing of various tiers of Hardware models for the WLAN Hardware Data-Paths and Control Plane using advanced modeling techniques. You will develop Models that include behavioral, architectural, performance, and cycle-accurate models. You will design the Models in terms of what is modeled vs. what is not modeled, create detailed Model design specifications for partitioning between blocks, sub-blocks and interfaces, and well as validating the end-to-end performance of the models and debugging performance issues at a system level. You will work with cross-functional teams including Hardware RTL Design team, Hardware DV team, Standards/Systems team and Firmware team to define Model interfaces to allow them to be integrated into various Platforms where the Models serve as HW DV golden reference, System Performance Validation reference, and FW Virtual Prototyping platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Develop, deliver, and maintain fixed-point C++/SystemC models and micro-code (firmware) for Qualcomms next generation 802.11 WLAN physical-layer (PHY) implementation;

+ Models are used as golden reference for Design Verification (DV) as well as firmware development, performance characterization and performance sign-offs;

+ Develop large-scale automation tools and testing infrastructure for code-quality assurance and performance characterization for end-to-end PHY models;

+ Identify performance deficiencies and propose enhancements to PHY algorithms, architecture, and implementation;

+ Identify performance or architecture deficiencies and propose enhancements to PHY micro-code and implementation;

+ Work closely with Standards, Design and Verification teams to ensure timely deliveries of models and verified designs.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

+ 2+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

+ Strong programming skills with C/C++, and preferably SystemC. Expertise in Matlab is assumed.

+ Experience and expertise in Fixed-point C++ or SystemC HW model development;

+ Strong PHY/DSP algorithm & communication system design background;

+ Strong PHY/DSP performance and code debug capabilities;

+ Strong communication and collaboration skills.

+ Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
