Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Local Assistance Senior Environmental Planner/Branch Chief, the incumbent is an interdisciplinary team member responsible for reviewing and approving complex environmental documents, technical studies, and analytical reports to ensure compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and numerous federal environmental resource laws and regulations. The incumbent provides consultation recommendations; confirms the environmental impacts of local agency transportation systems on environmental resources and assists the local agency formulate and quantify measures to mitigate biological, cultural, and community and land use impacts. This position provides guidance to local agency consultants carrying out environmental document preparation and technical work and works with confidential and privileged information. The incumbent must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with local agencies and internal project delivery partners and interested parties involved with local assistance projects. The incumbent must be solution oriented and may be required to suggest and collaborate on innovative solutions to meet deliverables.
