Under the direction of the Office Chief, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Senior Transportation Engineer, CT supervises and directs a staff consisting of Transportation Engineer, Civils (TEC) in the preparation of Project Initiation Documents (PID) and other studies of proposed transportation facilities. Oversees staff performing Independent Quality Assurance (IQA) for locally funded or sponsored projects. Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
