Will Consider Research Data Analyst I

Under the general direction of the Senior Transportation Planner, the incumbent holds primary responsibility within the Division for a variety of tasks related to the application of travel forecasting methods, travel demand modeling, transportation data analysis, and statistical assessment. This includes conducting complex research projects that involve developing innovative or undefined methods for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data, identifying new strategies for data collection, and coordinating data migration efforts. The incumbent assesses patterns to forecast future impacts and trends, providing key insights that advise department officials and state leaders, particularly in areas where new programs or systems are being proposed or where existing programs have a major impact. Additionally, the incumbent works cooperatively with internal and external partners, maintaining liaison with Caltrans HQ programs, Districts, and Regional Transportation Planning Agencies on planning studies and related projects to support the Department’s mission, goals, and objectives. Recognized as the department’s top expert in the field, the incumbent is responsible for executing projects from inception to completion, advising senior management on complex research initiatives, and ensuring that all research outcomes are aligned with the department’s strategic priorities.
