Under the general supervision of the Office Chief for Transportation Planning, a Supervising Transportation Planner, you supervise a professional staff to deliver of all products and activities of Planning and Mass Transportation Programs for the assigned geographic area (southern counties within District 5: San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara). You also supervise activities for all core Planning program activities for the northern counties, including Regional Planning, Intergovernmental/Local Development Review, Community Planning and the administration of numerous grant programs (Consolidated Planning Grant Funds and Transportation Planning grants.) Position requires significant written and verbal communications, often with short deadlines.

Senior Transportation Planner Exam

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Planner Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
