General Summary

Researches, designs, develops, implements, and verifies complex camera systems and HW or FW tasks (including Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), 3A (AWB, AEC, AF), Image Quality, Features, Tuning Tools), algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification. Performs architecture, IQ modules, algorithm and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development. Ensures image quality, systems performance, ISP area and power metrics are met. The responsibilities of this role include: • Working under close supervision.• Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.• Working within prescribed budget and resources.• Completing some tasks with multiple steps which must be performed in a specific order; directions or manuals can accurately document the steps necessary to perform the task.• Exercising some creativity to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.• Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.The responsibilities of this role do not include: • Providing supervision/guidance to others.• Influence over key organizational decisions.• Role in strategic planning.Principal Duties and Responsibilities• Leverages basic understanding of camera processing blocks to work on defined tasks related to one or more functions of a feature; works under close supervision.• Debugs isolated or well-defined issues.• Collaborates with team members and other camera teams on the design, development, and optimization of camera systems, hardware, and/or software.• Writes clear technical documentation and feature descriptions for straightforward projects under the direction of a supervisor.

QCT Multimedia Connected Camera Systems group creates embedded camera and imaging solutions for IP Cameras, Sports Cameras, Drone Cameras and Robotics Cameras. The CSS (Connected Smart System) Camera Systems Engineer works in Qualcomm’s Connected Camera Systems Team and will be responsible for developing new IP camera features encompassing 2D/3D Image Capture, Image/Video Post-Processing, and machine vision etc.

Responsibilities:

+ Extend graphics rendering framework to render realistic camera image.

+ Develop simulation software in the development cycle of robotic vision and control algorithms.

+ Build semantic scene generation/randomization software for 3D model production.

+ Work with camera optics/hardware team to simulate pre-production optics/sensor hardware.

+ Work with robotic team for metric and analysis of robotic vision KPIs.

+ Work with application engineer to simulate customer’s novel hardware use cases or novel optics/sensor prior to prototype.

+ Work with testing team and release team to release the simulation and rendering software as part of Qualcomm software product line.

+ Provide training for internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Doctorate, Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering, and/or related field

+ Solid knowledge on graphics rendering, ray tracing.

+ Solid C/C++ programming, Python is a plus.

+ Experience with camera image processing algorithms.

+ Experience with OpenCL or CUDA is a plus.

+ Publication in computer vision related area is a plus.
