Position Definition:
Diablo Valley College’s product offerings are a suite of educational courses, certificate and degree programs, and an array of support services. The college is in the initial stages of developing new lead generation strategies and the Product Marketing Specialist will be key to this effort. This role will be tasked with working in partnership with faculty to develop a new product marketing infrastructure in order to drive enrollment for academic degree and certificate programs.Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Product Marketing Specialist role owns the positioning, messaging, and branding of various products within the Career Education and Workforce Development portfolio. Additionally, the Product Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing compelling content to drive awareness and engagement with past, current, and future program participants. You will use your deep knowledge of the products and market, consumers, and competitors to clearly explain the unique value the product brings and generate content that engages, nurtures, and converts leads. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help Diablo Valley College reach learners and connect them to our transformational educational programming. Examples of Duties/Essential Functions:
• Becoming a product expert by directly connecting with the program faculty and staff, and program participants to learn about products and audiences.
• Conducting and/or analyzing market research, including competitive analyses, student and employer surveys, etc to inform product marketing strategy.
• Managing positioning, messaging, and branding of select programs.
• Writing briefs outlining value proposition, key benefits, and more for respective programs, and establishing key success metrics and deliverables for creative projects.
• Generating ideas and producing content. Working on projects from concept to implementation. independently or with creative collaborators. Content types include but are not limited to testimonials, videos, infographics, webinars, emails, etc.
• Tracking marketing ROI, producing relevant reports and presenting them to key stakeholders.
• Working with internal partners to train them on core messaging, values, and features of DVC’s programs and services.
• Building and maintaining relationships with vendors and contacts whose services will be needed to support content creation.
• Coordinating project budgets and invoicing.

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Previous experience in product marketing, brand marketing, or content marketing.
• Proficient in modern office applications such as Microsoft Office, Asana, and familiar with Google Analytics and Salesforce.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Project management skills and creative production experience.
• Understanding of and ability to execute based on modern and accessible website, design, photography, and copywriting standards.
• Storytelling, digital and print content creation, and coordination of photos, videos, copy, graphics, etc. for email, social media, websites, direct mail, etc.
• Flexible, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly detail and process oriented with excellent time management skills.
• Data savvy; committed to using metrics to make data informed decisions.
• Tech savvy; excited to keep pace with constantly evolving marcom tools and standards.
• Willingness to coach internal partners including staff, managers, faculty, and students on marcom best practices and skills, and ability to be curious, humble, optimistic, and confident in approach to doing so.
• Demonstrate understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, mental or physical disability, and religious background of all students, faculty and staff, and with all individuals encountered in the performance of required duties.
