Title:  Mental Health Counselor
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with possible variability
Location: Longview, WA, with possible coverage in Vancouver, WA
Classification:  Full-Time, Hourly, Exempt
Updated Salary: $32.92- $46.08 hourly DOQ (Associate License) or $37.85-$53 hourly DOQ (Independent License)
Closing Date: Open until filled

Position Summary:

This position will be filled by a person who is licensed to provide mental health services in Washington State and is dually credentialed to behavioral health services.  Acceptable licensure includes those in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.  An additional credential in the treatment of substance use disorder services must also be in place or obtainable within the first six months of employment.
Working under the supervision of the Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor, and in collaboration with a team of professionals, the person filling this position will provide individual and group counseling services that incorporate a variety of strengths-based, culturally responsive therapeutic modalities in order to provide effective treatment interventions to facilitate achievement of individually focused outcomes.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following, and other related duties as assigned.

Creates a warm, welcoming, and professional environment for clients, visitors, and staff.
Supports and demonstrates program efforts to provide high-quality, culturally responsive health services to the Native and local communities.
Coordinates with internal and external partners to meet client, staff, or program needs.
Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to state and federal guidelines.
Demonstrates the knowledge, competency, and skills necessary to meet the clinical needs of clients of all ages.  Possesses clinical and administrative documentation skills that meet/exceed best practice standards.
Provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments for clients including both mental health and substance use disorder symptoms.
Provides individual, group, and family therapy utilizing various psychological techniques and therapeutic framework that emphasizes a holistic approach to care.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts group therapy sessions in accordance with accepted principles.
Provides crisis intervention as needed including safety planning and relapse prevention planning.
Documents intervention and care coordination activities in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality regulations.
Coordinate’s care of clients with the referents, family, and other organizations involved in the client’s care to further the effectiveness of the treatment program.
Assesses client’s needs and progress and develops and modifies individual service plans accordingly.
Participates in meetings and committees as requested by the Program Manager.
Participants in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.
Demonstrates good independent judgment, adapts to new duties, and functions well in a changing environment.
Participates in professional/cultural development activities.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills.
Maintains appropriate licensure.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
Must have a current and unrestricted license to provide mental health services (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, PsyD). Associate licensure is acceptable if the applicant meets experience requirements. Must also have a certification or credential in the treatment of substance use disorders recognized by the Washington State Department of Health.
Must have education, training, and experience related to the provision of substance use disorder services with certification or the ability to obtain appropriate certification.
Must have at least three years’ experience working in a behavioral health setting with experience providing intervention services to individuals with dual diagnoses.
Must have at least two years’ experience providing behavioral health services to youth and families.
Experience working within American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities preferred. Experience with and knowledge of culturally responsive practice methods also preferred.

Requirements:
