Who You Are & What You’ll Do

The Employee Relations Partner will proactively develop the capability of leaders and employees to create a respectful workplace that is highly ethical and consistent with Dr. Bronner’s cosmic principles. This role will lead employee engagement activities and have a good pulse of the organization and proactively develop strategies to influence positive change, creating an inclusive working environment.

Your duties will include to:

  • Manage, advise, and resolve complex and sensitive employee relations cases which includes conducting confidential and sensitive investigations, advising managers/ supervisors on performance improvement plans, positive conflict management, advising resolution across all levels in the organization, and supporting a culture of diversity and inclusion.
    Identify, assess, and resolve complex issues pertaining to policy interpretation and employee disputes.
  • Recommend and implement solutions for maintaining a positive work environment. Stay abreast of the employee relations climate so that solutions to problems can be developed while issues are minor.
  • Provide guidance and training to leadership on how to manage performance and misconduct issues through early intervention and appropriate corrective action.
  • Take the lead in developing and implementing effective employee engagement programs and identify problems and solutions.
  • Provide fair and consistency counsel and solutions to employee related issues.
  • Support talent management, organizational capability-building, and other HR programs applicable to the assigned groups/teams.
  • Act as the first point of contact for human resources and managers by providing guidance and counseling on personnel concerns, performance improvement and policy violations. Responsible for coaching and advising leaders and employees on conduct-related matters including absenteeism, misconduct, and policy violations.
  • Independently investigate, determine accountability, and follow resolution in a fair and positive manner that mitigates risk. Ensuring that investigations and recommendations are compliant with policies, practices, and applicable employment law.
  • Complete thorough, and accurate investigation documentation including issue confirmation, interview notes, investigation summaries, investigation results documents, etc.
  • Review corrective action requests and supporting documentation for attendance, conduct, and/or policy violations.
  • Prepare corrective action forms.
  • Consistently enter and update case details for accurate recordkeeping maintaining a range of metrics to strategically inform and measure employee relations efforts. Compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as promotions, transfers, and absenteeism rates.
  • Track, analyze and interpret ER (Employee Relations) metrics to provide insights on trends and opportunities to department leaders.
  • Keep abreast of employment laws and developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices. Ensure fair and equitable employment practices are followed in the areas of recruitment, performance management, employee relations and benefits.
  • Provide direction and support on employee relations issues to ensure consistency in the application of policies, procedures, and ER best practices.
  • Participate in policy writing and interpretation. Assists in developing organizational policy and procedural efficiencies within the team.
  • Provide guidance and training to leadership on how to manage performance and misconduct issues through early intervention and appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform difficult staffing duties, including mediating disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination.
  • Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Other duties as assigned within job scope.

    What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Sociology/Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
  • 5 years of progressive, professional, and broad-based HR experience with at least 3 years of strong Employee Relations experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Federal/California labor, employment law, and common HR/employment policies as they apply to California employers.
  • Experience working with all levels of employees, including Executives and Senior Managers and above.

Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.
