EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
This position will serve to examine Recovery’s existing programs, ensuring equity and inclusion across agency operations. Typical assignments include:
– Acting as senior advisor to leadership regarding matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion as it relates to strategic planning, program policy, guidelines
– Leading assigned workgroups by providing subject matter expertise and actionable guidance.
– Providing briefs to senior leadership on progress and concerns of workgroups.
– Managing and supervising support staff by developing work plans, setting direction, and providing guidance on their work coordinating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion activities.
– Developing and coordinating with appropriate stakeholders to provide targeted training or job aids for staff that addresses equity, diversity, and inclusiveness.
