Custodian

Position Summary:
The Custodian cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds daily as directed. Daily, weekly, and monthly duties are assigned. Additional projects and duties as time permits. Daily attendance is an essential function of this position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Cleans and inspects entrances daily.

·         Cleans and sanitizes restrooms daily.

·         Sets up for meetings and cleans up after meetings.

·         Sweep building entrances, keep outside walks clear (includes shoveling), weather dependent.

·         Takes out garbage daily.

·         Sweep and mop kitchen.

·         Vacuum general office and individual offices.

·         Assist with internal office moves.

·         General repairs and maintenance (i.e. patch walls, painting, build shelving).

·         Change bulbs and other lightening fixtures. Ensure all bulbs are in proper working order.

·         Order cleaning supplies.

·         General repairs and special projects

Additional Duties and Responsibilities: 
·         Assures that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner.

·         Acts as liaison between GLITC and all maintenance and construction contractors.

·         Attending all training sessions and meetings as scheduled.

·         Performs other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

This is a non-exempt full-time position working at the main office in Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin. The salary range for this position is $16-$17 per hour (dependent on skills, experience, & education) with benefits including: Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay, Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. Work is performed mainly in an office environment with minimal exposure to injury.  Occasional travel to other sites to attend training may be required. Position requires bending and lifting 30 pounds.  Regularly scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm and will usually average 40-45 hours a week. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns. Background check and drug screen are required before employment.

Qualifications: 

An equivalent combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered. Required: High school diploma or General Educational Degree (GED).  Prefer one to two years of previous experience in the cleaning and maintenance industry.  Knowledge of HVAC Systems.  Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency desirable.  Individual must possess verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with co-workers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people.  Individuals must follow routine instructions and apply logic in the solving of various issues. Must be able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
