General Summary

You would be part of a HW design team that builds high performance emulation platforms. You will be responsible for board design process including schematic capture, PCB stack up, PCB layout, Power and Signal Integrity simulations, BOM management and design verification testing of circuit boards. You would drive system level architecture working closely with customers and software/firmware development teams. You would be interacting with cross functional teams to discuss design options for optimal system solutions. You will be responsible for directing lab technicians on system installation and debug process. You will work closely with cross-functional teams such as design and CAD by leveraging domain-specific expertise, sharing, and coordinating prototyping efforts, testing and support.

+ Experience with the board design process including schematic capture, PCB stack up, PCB layout (26+ layers), BOM management and design verification testing

+ Experience with FPGA board design (Xilinx and/or Altera)

+ FPGA HDL coding experience

+ Experience with 10Gbps or higher SERDES board designs

+ Experience performing power and signal integrity simulations including 10Gbps or higher signals including various IO analyses using established methodologies from model extraction through simulation, reporting of conclusions and recommend design changes to address failing simulations

+ Experience with circuit and layout guidelines, high speed design concepts, signal integrity and transmission line theory.

+ Experience with DDR3/DDR4 discrete component board designs

+ System architecture design experience

+ Familiar with I2C, JTAG, UART, SPI, SD Card, EMMC protocols

+ Familiar with using test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers

+ Board and System level bring-up and debug

+ Basic Linux/Unix experience

+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Mentor Graphics DxDesigner/Expedition, Vivado, Quartus, Hyperlynx, Sigrity PowerSI/PowerDC, ADS, Ansys HFSS, SPICE

+ Power supply design experience is a plus

+ Experience with signal integrity and PDN simulations is a plus

+ Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, PCB layout, Manufacturing etc.) to deliver high-quality boards and systems

Qualifications:

+ Minimum 3 years’ experience in system architecture, hardware board design, and signal integrity simulations

+ Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
