Classification: Regular, Full Time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week
Location: Valley Center, CA
Schedule: 2:45pm to 11:30pm Monday through Friday
Pay: $11.88 to $14.50 per hour DOE

Indian Health Council (IHC) is looking for a Security Guard. We are in search of candidates who are mission driven, patient-centered and culturally sensitive. Responsible for surveillance and protection of our main facility. Monitor and protect industrial or commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties. Must be able to work 2:45pm to 11:30pm Monday through Friday.
What are the core functions:
Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of main facility.
Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and reports to the proper authorities persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if malfunction or tampering has occurred.
Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Permits authorized persons to enter property.
Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
Writes incident reports, route logs and inspection logs.
Performs janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at plant entrance to maintain orderly flow.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What are the qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Some college preferred.
1-year security guard experience required.
3+ years experience surveilling and protecting in healthcare setting preferred.
California Guard card required.
Valid California driver’s license in good driving record will be required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
Current CPR certification or attain within 6 months of hire.
Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam, tuberculin skin test or x-ray and urine drug screen test to include marijuana. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position.
Must pass a criminal background check.
What are the competencies:
Knowledge of security and surveillance best practices.
Skilled in security protocols and observing irregularities.
Ability to work 8-hour shifts walking and patrolling the facility.
Proficient with basic computer skills (MS Office, utilizing our incident reporting system)
Ability to keep daily logs and write basic reports.
