Job Title: NTDSC Project Assistant

Reports To: NTDSC Project Director

Wage: $20-23 per hour DOE

Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly without Benefits

Classification: .20 FTE, Part-time

Location: Portland, OR

Job Summary:

This position reports directly to the Director of the Northwest Tribal Dental Support Center-a project located at the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB).

Essential Functions:

Assist the NTDSC Director with logistics for planning both virtual and in-person meetings.
Take notes during the monthly NTDSC planning call, annual planning meeting, and other NTDSC meetings and share them with both staff and consultants.
Process CDE paperwork as needed by the NTDSC Director.
Participate in meetings, workgroups, and conferences as required to achieve project objectives.
In close collaboration with the Director of NTDSC and NTDSC consultants, set overall goals and objectives for the Dental Support Center during the NTDSC annual planning meeting.
Identify innovative and effective ways to solve known oral health problems of Northwest AI/AN.
Assist with the Collaboratives of the Dental Support Center by helping to plan content and logistics.
Maintain well-organized filing system for documents and computer files.
Provide updates on project tasks in a timely manner.
Provide weekly check-ins to the NTDSC director on duties assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

One year of experience in project assisting and/or administration work preferred.
One year of work experience in a tribal community or tribal organization preferred.
Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Highly organized and motivated and have ability to carry out responsibilities with only minimal day to day supervision.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must demonstrate discretion, tact, knowledge, judgment, and overall ability in working effectively with federal, tribal, and other professionals and facilitating participation and partnership in the activities of the program.
Must be sensitive to cross-cultural differences, and able to work effectively within their context.

Typical Physical Activity:

Physical Demands: Frequently involves sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Physical Requirements: Constantly requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communications, and to make fine discrimination in sound. Constantly requires verbally expressing or

exchanging ideas or important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly. Constantly requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks. Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time. Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hand and arms. Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Infrequently requires crouching.

Typical Environmental Conditions: The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.

Travel Requirements: Some in state and national travel.
