General Summary

Provides technical expertise of hardware through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation and maintenance of company products. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer solutions. Ensures that the product solution is functioning according to specifications. May provide follow-up support to company sales staff and customer personnel by disseminating technical information on specific hardware areas. Assists customers with any questions, issues, or troubleshooting regarding hardware tools and products.

This positions is with the Hardware Applications Engineering team tasked with providing hardware support to Qualcomm’s customers that are utilizing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, system-on-chip (SoC) solutions on any Compute product segment. This includes technical support throughout all phases of the design cycle, from product introduction, through architectural, schematics, and layout design reviews, and to production, bring-ups, and eventual commercialization. The Hardware Engineering group also interacts with internal engineering and product teams to bridge customer requirements with internal plan of record, identify gaps in requirement, and propose solutions to mitigate the gaps.

Responsibilities:

+ Provide hardware design support to customers using Qualcomm’s Compute Snapdragon SoC solutions.

+ Resolve technical problems with the application of products via hands-on trouble shooting.

+ Perform block diagram, schematic, parts placement and PCB routing reviews on customer platforms, including DDR and Power Delivery simulation.

+ Aid customers to implement new technologies and implementations on their compute product using Qualcomm solutions.

+ Optimize customers system thermal and power as well as BOM reduction.

+ Create and maintain hardware documentation and design collaterals.

+ Collaborate with internal teams to align on customers’ technical product requirements, contribute to reference design decisions, and roadmap planning

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 2+ years Hardware Engineering (Design, Verification/Validation, Applications) or related work experience.

+ Experience in the design and production of HW systems and circuits for highly integrated SoC and power management IC.

+ Familiarity with complex multi-layered PCB design, schematic, and layout.

+ Knowledge of Tablets, Laptops, and/or other computing product segments and architecture.

+ Self-motivated and works well with large interdisciplinary hardware teams.

+ Flexible, self-starting, highly motivated to resolve complex customer problems.

+ Experience in integration, debug and problem reproduction on internal and customer platforms.

+ Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

+ Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

+ Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
