Researches, designs, develops, implements, and verifies complex camera systems and HW or FW tasks (including Camera Image Signal Processor (ISP), 3A (AWB, AEC, AF), Image Quality, Features, Tuning Tools), algorithms, features, logic design, modeling, and design verification. Performs architecture, IQ modules, algorithm and feature decomposition to drive requirements and specifications for hardware development. Ensures image quality, systems performance, ISP area and power metrics are met. The responsibilities of this role include: · Working under some supervision. · Providing some supervision/guidance to others. · Making decisions with a moderate impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct. · Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question; may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc. · Working within prescribed budget and resources. · Completing most tasks with multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework. · Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines. · Using deductive problem solving to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required. · May be solicited during strategic planning period. The responsibilities of this role do not include: · Supervising direct reports. · Influence over key organizational decisions. Principal Duties and Responsibilities · Leverages basic understanding of the camera processing pipeline and detailed knowledge of one or more blocks to work on slightly defined tasks related to one or more blocks throughout the design cycle; works under minimal supervision. · Collaborates with cross-functional teams to debug simple issues at a block/system level. · Works to address customer/product requirements in functionality and results; understands impact of task work on customer needs. · Collaborates with team members and other camera teams throughout the design cycle on the design, development, and optimization of camera systems, hardware, and/or software. · Writes clear and detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions to guide users and/or customers to use or implement output.
A successful candidate will work on developing implementation infrastructure for Camera IP delivered to various SoCs. The candidate will be responsible for various functions from RTL integration through physical design. As a member of the Camera team, the successful applicant will help integrate, implement, and develop state of the art Camera cores and will be working closely with the Camera development and physical design teams. The successful candidate will possess understanding of ASIC design flow and the challenges posed by advanced deep sub-micron technologies. You will be joining one of the World’s best Camera Design Solutions IP teams that delivers the Spectra ISP to various Snapdragon SoCs.
The Design Implementation Engineer will work in Qualcomm’s Spectra Camera team and will be responsible for managing all aspect of front end implementation design. The role will also include working with execution driven teams for tape-outs by supporting new methodologies and new flows required to address better QoR like performance, power and area.
The responsibilities will include the following:
+ RTL to GDS2 flow, tools and methodologies such as synthesis, static timing analysis, formal verification, physical design and ECO generation/verification
+ Implementation and delivery of Camera cores from RTL to Netlist
+ Identify areas for flow and process improvements
+ RTL synthesis using physically aware tools
+ Formal Verification using industry standard tools for RTL-netlist and netlist-netlist checks
+ Close design timing by running static timing analysis and constraint development
+ Generate and verify ECOs for functional and timing fixes, working closely with the physical design team
+ Low Power synthesis flows for multiple corners
+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
Bachelors – Computer Science, Bachelors – Engineering, Bachelors – Information Systems
2+ years Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Doctorate – Computer Science, Doctorate – Engineering, Doctorate – Information Systems, Masters – Computer Science, Masters – Engineering, Masters – Information Systems
2+ years experience in Image Signal Processing design, development, implementation, and verification. ,2+ years of experience with programming (e.g., C, C++, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems. ,2+ years experience in camera hardware or systems design and optimization.
