Job Title: Compensation Specialist
Reports to: President/Owner
FLSA: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Compensation Specialist conducts research and analysis in different areas involving compensation, such as compensation statistics and market analysis.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Duties include:
· Meet with clients to identify scope of projects
· Conduct position evaluations
· Determine job classifications
· Assign job families
· Prepare/update job descriptions
· Assess the budgetary impact of compensation decisions
· Provide consultancy on compliance with regulations and labor laws
· Conduct organizational analyses and make recommendations
· Determine staffing needs and job titles
· Develop salary structures and compensation packages
· Develop policies and procedures
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
· Attend trade shows and market business services
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of federal and tribal employment law
· Knowledge of compensation structures and strategies
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently
· Ability to prioritize tasks
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational psychology or related field
· Five years of professional-level experience in human resources
· Three years’ experience conducting compensation studies
· Prefer SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential
· Experience working with tribal governments, casinos, etc., preferred
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
· May be required to travel
