GENERAL SUMMARY

Designs and develops IP analysis applications for one the world’s largest patent portfolios. Develop web applications and engineering tools that includes programming at the data layer, integration layer, API layer, and the UI layer. Builds custom applications using latest web technologies to deliver the data in a faster and more efficient manner to meet the dynamic needs of our legal partners. The responsibilities of this role include: • Working independently with no supervision.• Decisions are more significant in their impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives. Errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results. Errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct. • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.• Has a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that will have substantial impact over the organization).• Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short or long-term memory while performing the task.• Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.• Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required .

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Designs, develops, and enhances highly complex back-end/front-end applications independently, associated integrations, and required test harnesses independently.

+ Develops, creates, and modifies software to build large scale, distributed and observable fault-tolerant systems and services.

+ Writes complex reliable, scalable, testable, and maintainable code.

+ Architects, designs, and develops complex, scalable, highly available, and secure system integrations and APIs.

+ Acts as a technical lead for large and complex projects to ensure they are driven to completion.

+ Collaborates and influences users of the system/application to define software roadmaps.

+ Anticipates complex issues and collaborates with business partners to identify and implement system solutions or other complex technical information.

+ Adapts to project critical challenges to meet deadlines independently; leads team members to manage time, tasks, and workload to deal with challenges in a timely manner.

+ Serves as escalation point for technical issues within complex projects to address challenges and resolve problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems) and 7+ years relevant work experience OR 9+ years relevant work experience without a bachelor’s degree.

+ 6+ years of work experience with Full-stack Application Development (e.g., Java, Python, Angular, etc.).

+ 3+ years of work experience with Data Structures, algorithms, and data stores.

+ Proficient in building and designing web applications using the Spring Framework.

+ Proficient with ORM frameworks, preferably JPA / Hibernate.

+ Experience with Solr.

+ Experience building web application using Angular / React.

+ Experience with TDD and unit test frameworks.

+ Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD) and Agile development methodologies.

+ Experience with AWS, CI/CD Pipelines , preferably Jenkins.

+ Ability to effectively coach/mentor other developers and perform code reviews.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

+ Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

+ 10+ years IT-relevant experience.

+ 2+ years of work experience with distributed systems and pipelines.

+ 1+ years of work experience in engineering applications in cloud.

+ 2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Sr. Director level and above).

+ 4+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

+ 4+ years in a technical leadership role

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

+ Strong experience working with Oracle database. Writing Complex SQL queries, PL/SQL Procedures and optimize query performance.

+ Strong experience with Git.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

+ Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

+ Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

+ Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

+ Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
