The Suquamish Tribe is recruiting for a MSW Casework Supervisor for the Tribal Child Welfare Department. The incumbent provides supervision of Tribal Child Welfare (TCW) Caseworkers. Assists caseworkers with case planning to ensure optimal overall handling of adjudicated child abuse and neglect cases. Offers leadership and solution-based problem-solving skills to caseworkers, to promote crime victim recovery and harm reduction. Engages community resources and facilitates integrated family service delivery to ensure a collaborative working environment across social service agencies within the tribal, state and federal systems. Conducts weekly case management staffings for support and direction to caseworkers. Provides coverage of the department in the Director’s absence.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Directly supervises TCW Caseworkers.
May be required to promptly respond to after-hours CPS situations.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in the areas of juvenile justice, child abuse and neglect, family dynamics, and child development.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge in direct supervision in a child welfare settings, preferably a tribal setting.
Must be knowledgeable about and sensitive to the clients’ cultural needs and be able to apply prevailing social and cultural standards of the community in order to maintain the clients’ social and cultural ties.
Knowledge of community, tribal, county and state resources, and ability to maintain positive relationships with those resources.
Must complete child abuse and neglect interviewing training within 6 months of employment. Must have CPR/First Aid certification and tuberculosis test.
Education and/or Experience
Master’s Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.or M.A. /M.S. in a related field) from a four-year college or university and five years’ experience in Child Welfare Supervision in Indian Country is preferred.
State/Federal/Tribal Background check required
Valid WA State Driver’s License required
