Summary
The Medical Assistant will work working closely with a multidisciplinary team in a Family Practice Clinic serving adult, pediatric, and prenatal patients providing comprehensive, high quality healthcare assistance for patients and patient’s families. Under the delegation of a licensed practitioner the Medical Assistant will assist providing patient care for complex medical conditions, including Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT). There will be a daily variety of both routine and complex professional tasks that require high level organizational skills, critical thinking, and exceptional patient care experience. The ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and effectively react to patient emergencies is critical.

Your Responsibilities
• Act as a patient advocate and support the clinical staff.
• Gathers patient’s medical history takes vital signs, and records information into electronic health record (EHR) for review by medical provider. Reports abnormal vital signs or concerning symptoms promptly to nurse or provider.
• Liaison between patients and providers: Review incoming patient messages, questions, records and triage to provider appropriately. Convey results and recommendations from provider to patient.
• Prepares examination/treatment rooms before visits: ensures rooms are sanitized and stocked with usual medical supplies, prepares trays and instruments for procedures using sterile technique as indicated, provides patients with gown/drape coverings.
• Assists in exam room as stand-by, and in handing instruments and materials to provider as directed.
• Cleans examination/treatment rooms after visits according to infection control standard policies.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to infection control standard policies.
• Assists with clinic inventory control: Orders and/or completes purchase orders for medical supplies, medication, materials, and vaccines. Stocks exam and supply rooms as indicated.
• Independently operates electrocardiograph (EKG), and other in-house diagnostic testing equipment as ordered by provider.
• Administers oral, respiratory, and injection medication or treatments per scope of practice under the supervision and orders of licensed provider.
• Collects phlebotomy, oral, nasopharyngeal, and urine specimens for on and off-site analysis.
• Processes and tracks referrals and prior authorizations for consultations, imaging, and medications and follow ups for additional appointments.
• Assists or fills in to complete administrative tasks in reception as requested.
• Assists as needed with clinic cleaning.
• Other duties as delegated by the medical staff, RN, and Clinic Director. Performs duties in a professional manner independently and as needed under the direction and supervision of the medical staff and as a collaborative part of the clinic staff using problem solving methods.

Qualifications You’ll Bring
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associate Degree or certificate in Medical Assisting. 1 year of experience working in an ambulatory clinic, preferably a Tribal or IHS facility, is desirable.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted Medical Assistant license in Washington State.
• Ability to perform basic life support & first aid with current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be willing to complete within 30 days of hire.
• Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate
• Currently immunized (or proof of immunity in the case of MMR and Hepatitis B) or willing to be immunized for MMR, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, and COVID-19. Annual
• Influenza vaccine highly recommended.
• HIPAA training and compliance certification upon hire
• Must be able type on a key board and use word processing programs at an intermediate level.
• Six (6) months experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
