Scope of Work:

The Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning Mechanic installs, services, troubleshoots, and repairs environmental-control systems at MCAS Beaufort.

Responsibilities:

Utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs 79 evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.
Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
Knowledge of geo-thermal loops.
Installs air and water filters in completed installation, injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.
Pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement and bands.
Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
Install, repair, and service air conditioners, ranging from one to twenty tons cooling capacity.
Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation.
Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap-and-water solution.
Troubleshoot commercial HVAC Equipment.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be EPA certified.
Must have a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in a variety of building or utility trades.
Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.
Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include but is not limited to a criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and a 5-panel drug test, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
