Job Summary:

This position supports the work of the National Service Program team in the accomplishment of team goals and objectives. Major areas of focus include supporting AmeriCorps recruitment, providing administrative support to AmeriCorps members, capturing the AmeriCorps experience and telling member stories, and supporting grant compliance. The position collaborates with the National Service Program Manager, the National Service Program Coordinator, Community Service Program Leads, AmeriCorps members, and Brand.

 

This position is time limited position based on grant funding. The position is expected to end November 30, 2023 with the possibility of extension.

 

The compensation for this position is $26.36 per hour. This position is open until filled.

Essential Duties

– Supports recruitment of 200+ AmeriCorps members annually in partnership with program leaders. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining job boards, screening candidates, conducting outreach efforts, and strategizing new recruitment methods.
– Attends recruitment events and developing new partnerships with schools, community-based organizations, and community leaders to support National Service Programs. Develops strong partnerships with BIPOC led organizations.
– Supports onboarding of members, ensuring timely completion of onboarding paperwork and enrollment steps.
– Acts as first point of contact for up to 100 Summer VISTAs and up to 25 HungerCorps members. Members will be deployed to local partners to support large-scale anti-hunger efforts; this role will act as a centralized point of contact for members throughout members’ service term.
– Partners with Food Security staff, the National Service Program Manager, and partner agencies to address member concerns.
– Maintains compliance with AmeriCorps the Agency, VISTA, and ServeWA guidelines by supporting onboarding, timesheets, and overall member training, support, and management.
– Supports National Service Team and VISTA Leaders with ongoing member trainings, including professional development and racial equity.
– Coordinates community building activities for AmeriCorps Members. This includes development of monthly newsletter; management of UWKC AmeriCorps social media channels – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn; engagement with Members to gather photos and stories.
– Designs outreach materials (i.e. social media graphics, recruitment videos, recruitment toolkits, email templates, recruitment flyers); Creates social media strategy and copy (including stories of current AmeriCorps members); Utilizes email marketing including Mailchimp; Partners with Brand team to leverage UWKC Social Media tools.
– Develops strategy to communicate with and engage alumni of UWKC AmeriCorps programs.
– Synthesizes and communicates information about on-the-ground AmeriCorps efforts, including documentation, data collection, and storytelling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

– Demonstrated understanding of social and racial justice and equity, with a proven commitment to apply racial and economic justice lenses in both personal and workplace contexts.
– Lived experience and/or demonstrated professional skills working within a diverse work environment.
– Proven experience leveraging AmeriCorps to help low-income people move out of poverty and homelessness.
– Proven strong community outreach and volunteer/staff recruitment experience in a fast-paced environment.
– Demonstrated commitment to Racial Equity and experience building racial equity and social justice strategies.
– Demonstrated detail-oriented, able to quickly and concisely synthesize large amounts of information.
– Proven experience leveraging new technology, social media, and other tools on a daily basis.
– Proven ability to multi-task; effective time and project management skills.
– Proven excellent organizational and follow-through skills in a fast-paced environment.
– Demonstrated strong cross-team collaboration background; demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment, and good decision-making skills.
– Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
– Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills; understanding of correct usage of grammar, business English, basic math, and strong proofreading skills.
Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in fundraising, sales, business, marketing, communications, or a related field. Must have at least 2 years’ experience in fundraising or sales/marketing. Experience with donor solicitation and fundraising techniques, with an applied emphasis on customer relationship building, is highly desired.
