GENERAL SUMMARY

The WLAN Hardware Design Engineer will be responsible for design, bring-up and validation of WLAN development boards and reference designs. The work will primarily focus on wireless communication product design, system bring-up on the bench with both FPGA and Silicon platforms, system performance analysis and performance optimization. Additional duties will include development of test infrastructure for product evaluation and production test, generation of production test plans and procedures and transfer of these materials to the production team. In this role, you will closely work with HW and SW engineers to resolve functional issues and fine tune performance to make best-in-class WiFi/Communication products. The Hardware Design Engineer will also generate technical collateral required by the Customer Engineering Team for product support. Job Responsibilities:• Review product requirements documents and generate board design specifications to meet those requirements. • Capture schematics and oversee PCB placement and layout. • Perform board bring-up, RF performance tuning and digital interface validation.• Define and validate power grid capacity and power sequencing requirements. • Perform power consumption measurements, analysis and optimization.• Perform in-house FCC/ETSI regulatory compliance screens and coordinate/work with outside resources for final compliance measurements.• Prepare materials and conduct system, schematic and board-level design reviews.Preferred Qualifications:• 2+ years of experience in RF and Wireless LAN Hardware Design and Validation – RF board design experience is a must.• Knowledge of WLAN industry standards including IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad/ax/be.• Good understanding of industry accepted digital interfaces including PCIe, USB, UART, I2C, I3C, SDIO, MIPI, etc. • Experience in bring-up and bench characterization of mixed-signal RF SoC’s. • Proficiency in performance of RF system lab measurements using test equipment including RF Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, etc.• Experience with industry standard design tools and applications including Cadence OrCAD, Concept and Allegro tools, SPICE, MS Word, Excel, etc.• Familiarity with Bluetooth, NFC, FM and WiPower technology is a strong plus. MAC protocol knowledge such as TCP, UDP is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.

• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.

• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).

• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
