At the Vivian Olum Child Development Center, we believe childhood is a time of wonder, discovery, and endless possibility. Serving infants through pre-kindergarten, our nationally respected early learning program provides high-quality education and care for the children of University of Oregon families. Our mission is to nurture each child’s growth through meaningful relationships, rich learning experiences, and a safe, welcoming environment where children and families can thrive.

Our center includes seven classrooms serving more than 80 children each day. We embrace an emergent, constructivist approach to learning, following children’s interests and building curriculum around their curiosity, strengths, and developmental needs. Individualized care is at the heart of our work, particularly for our youngest learners.

About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and collaborative educator to help create joyful, engaging learning experiences for young children in our full-day, year-round program. Working closely with a co-teacher and a team of dedicated professionals, you will play a key role in shaping children’s early learning experiences while fostering strong partnerships with families.

In this role, you will:

·       Design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum inspired by children’s interests and emerging learning opportunities.

·       Create a warm, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.

·       Observe, document, and assess children’s growth and development to inform individualized learning experiences.

·       Build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

·       Provide daily leadership and guidance to classroom support staff and student employees.

·       Ensure a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment while maintaining continuity of classroom operations.

·       Collaborate with teaching partners and center staff to support a strong, reflective learning community.
