CRDIP Historical Research Assistant – Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area

American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and through the Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program, is seeking a Historical Research Assistant to assist in the research and writing of a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom nomination draft for a site in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

The Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program (CRDIP) is a professional development internship that introduces students and recent graduates, from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the National Parks, to career opportunities within Cultural Resource Management in the NPS. CRDIP participants will have the opportunity to attend several professional development webinars as well as write blogs or create videos about their projects throughout their term. Location: Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area- Thousand Oaks, CA

Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $700/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly.

Housing: Park dorm-style housing (shared bathroom and kitchen facilities) is provided at no cost for the duration of their term.

Travel Expenses: ACE members will have access to up to $1,200 to be used for relocation and/or travel expenses.

Public Land Corps Hiring Authority: Members serving under this agreement may be eligible for a federal hiring authority upon completion of their term of service and 640 hours of service. If the duration of a PLC-eligible term is not long enough for Members to accrue 640 hours of service (~16 weeks), the total hours served at the completion of the term may be eligible to be combined with hours accrued from another PLC-eligible term to meet the 640 hours requirement. PLC projects also include specific eligibility requirements such as age and citizenship.
