Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Assessment’s role, holds a prominent position within OAD, reporting to the Senior Director, Assessments. The Senior Manager conducts on-site and off-site assessments and produces non-profit business evaluation reports in alignment with the NeighborWorks America assessment methodology. Senior Manager, Assessments identify and document organizational successes and areas of risk, including determining areas for improvement and corrective actions. This role leads or supports specialized teams and employs analytical tools, core technical expertise, and evaluation techniques to assess current and prospective network organizations (NWO).
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site and off-site assessments of nonprofit organizations, reviewing financial documents, governance, personnel, and strategic planning.
Partner with Financial Analysts to evaluate organizational financial health through audits and reports.
Identify compliance with NeighborWorks America’s charter agreements and make recommendations for corrective actions or health ratings.
Produce comprehensive assessment reports and summaries for leadership, aligning with OAD’s quality assurance standards.
Provide training to staff, consultants, and network members, and assist in updating policies, procedures, and practices.
Collaborate with cross-divisional teams to analyze trends in risk, production, and network health.
Represent NeighborWorks America at events and support corporate initiatives.
Assist with on-the-job training of new staff and consultants. Design and teach workshops for OAD staff, consultants, NWOs, and other business units as needed.
Nature of Work Contacts:
Specific contact with Senior Managers, Financial Analysts, and other NWA staff focusing on financial health issues within the network is required. The Senior Manager, Financial Assessments will work with a high-level of independence and within established departmental guidelines and priorities.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
10 years of relevant experience conducting on-site and off-site assessments of nonprofit organizations, real estate development, property management, lending, homeownership promotion, or community development organizations.
Tenured experience reviewing financial documents, governance, personnel, and strategic planning.
Advanced knowledge of nonprofit boards, and performance evaluations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of affordable housing and community development industries.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in Spanish.
Working Conditions:
Travel up to 25%
Fast paced working environment, with extensive computer use and technological communication.
Hybrid: this role reports to the Boston, DC, NYC, or Kansas City office two days per week
Salary Range:
$76,000 – $120,000
The salary offered for the role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, and the candidate’s qualifications/professional experience.

Purpose of Division:
The Organizational Assessment Division (OAD) assesses the health of organizations within its network by providing in-depth analyses of financial health and mission delivery to build and advance, a robust, and resilient network. OAD assessments include a review of real estate development, asset management, property management, lending, homeownership promotion, homeownership preservation, and community building and engagement business functions as well as resource management, financial management, board governance, strategic planning, personnel, contract management and technical operating systems. Organizational assessments are a core feature of NeighborWorks America’s stewardship and monitoring of its network members as recipients of federal grant funds.

Position Summary
The Director of Sustainability and Resilience is responsible for spearheading NeighborWorks America’s efforts to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that promote environmental sustainability and climate resilient homes and communities, in collaboration with a diverse group of internal stakeholders. This includes efforts that are informed by the NeighborWorks network and strengthen lines of business. The key focus areas for the Director include strategy development and implementation, partnership development, policy and practice research, network engagement and internal coordination. The Director acts as an ambassador for NeighborWorks’ sustainability and resilience efforts and is responsible for developing and sustaining key partnerships to accomplish goals.
Work at a Glance: Strategic business partner focused on the advancement and construction of comprehensive sustainability and resilience strategy.
· Lead the development and implementation of NeighborWorks America’s sustainability and climate resilience strategy, including establishing key metrics and business line strategies.
· Foster strategic partnerships with technical, public, philanthropic, and private sector resources to support sustainability initiatives.
· Provide technical expertise on sustainability policies and practices in housing and community development, advising leadership on future strategies.
· Engage network members to design and deliver technical assistance programs and disseminate best practices and resources.
· Develop training programs in sustainability and resilience topics for housing professionals, collaborating with the Training Division.
· Manage day-to-day project coordination, including goals, outcomes, budget planning, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

o NeighborWorks Network staff and leadership
o Funders, lenders, and intermediaries
o Government leaders and staff
o Representatives from key partner organizations
o NeighborWorks America internal staff

Required Minimum Qualifications:
· At least 7 years of experience developing and implementing environmental sustainability and climate resilience strategies and programs at the intersection of housing and community development that strengthen nonprofit capacity.
· Experience in grants management, including developing and administering grant opportunities.
· Proven ability to develop and manage technical assistance programs with new tools, resources, and training.
· Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships, coordinating with national and local partners and funders.
· Strong project management skills, including budget oversight and coordination with diverse stakeholders.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a track record of making informed recommendations.
· Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to equity and social justice.
Technology: Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite. Ability to use datasets and dashboards to create insights for programs.
Working Conditions:

National Initiatives Division Purpose:
The National Initiatives Division of NeighborWorks America seeks to equip organizations to meet the changing needs of their communities and address systemic inequities. The division mission is to accelerate the adoption of promising practices, primarily through investment in and support of the approximately 250 NeighborWorks organizations located across the country in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and on tribal lands. The division is structured around 3 areas of focus (1) affordable housing development and asset management, (2) homeownership, lending and wealth building and (3) community initiatives - strengthened by an operations team. In addition, National Initiatives resources tailored strategies to advance impact in rural and Native communities. The team is animated by values of collaboration, responsiveness, curiosity, intentionality and excellence.
