The Immunology and Microbiology Department at Scripps is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. You are welcome to apply if you are interested in particpating on the following project:

Within a large collaboration, we are trying to model the autoimmunity of type 1 diabetes in a microfluidic system. Inflammation, role of the macrophage, destruction by CD4 and CD8 T cells will be modelled in a microchamber in which islets and vascular cells are organized like in a normal islet. All cells come from the same patient by using differentiated cells from IPSCs. Immune activation and effector function will be studied by live microscopy and single cell analysis.
