Summary
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, develops courses and instructional materials for use in training of Tribal Government employees on assigned vocational or personal and professional development topics. Develops a training plan and then produces a complete course of instruction, including lesson plans and teaching aids. Prepares employees to achieve their professional development goals and works with directors and managers to accomplish job objectives by identifying training needs; preparing and presenting training and developing curriculum individually, departmental, and government wide. The Training & Development Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for Directors in need of professional development training for their staff.

Your Education / Experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• AA or AS degree in related field preferred,
• At least 4 years of training and development experience is preferred.
• Must have experienced skills in MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience creating visual documents in CANVA, ADOBE, PosterMyWall is required.
• Experience with word processing, email, internet, and hands on experience with office equipment, including a fax and scanner machine, copy machine, and telephone system is required.

Your Responsibilities
• Identifies training and development needs by analyzing government strategic training priorities related to staff job requirements and professional development needs.
• Review job descriptions and coordinate with department directors on training requirements for new and existing positions.
• Works closely with management to oversee all staff professional training initiatives to ensure consistency with policy and procedures and department requirements.
• Conducts presentation/training as requested using a variety of instructional techniques and or formats.
• Develops a means of measuring the effectiveness of staff development training programs.
• Research and develop alternative training methods when expected results are not achieved.
• Completes statistical reports and compiles data for HR Director.
• Maintains consistent contact with staff encouraging participation by employees and tracks employee training requirements and professional development progress.
• Will be responsible for creating new hire on-boarding training schedule.
• Works with employees needing to complete GED and tracks progress. This will include collaboration with the Suquamish Tribe Education department.
• Prepares training resource manuals by identifying purpose, assembling, and composing information.
• Will work closely with the Suquamish Tribe Workforce Program, 477 & Emergency Operations Center for development train-ing efforts, including job safety required training.
• Works with other departments in the tribe to collaborate on organization wide trainings.
• Will create an annual training calendar for required trainings such as HIPPA, Harassment Prevention, Work Safety, and oth-er required annual trainings.
• Coordinates with Administration and or external agencies, and vendors on the training schedule for the use of office spaces to facilitate individual or group trainings.
• Assists the Human Resources Department with Job Fairs.
• Develop and implement “train the trainer” instructional programs that teach proven and relevant adult learning techniques to other training and development personnel to maximize the success of each training opportunity.
• Serves as an interview panel participant for Human Resources as needed.
• Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports, including a training and professional development filing system, or maintains existing one.
• Coordinates with departments to ensure departmental and position specific licensures and certificates are up to date and updated in the HRIS System and personnel files. Identifies ways to improve workflows and processes to work smarter and increase efficiency.
• Creates, manages, and maintains a training library, and employee training database.
• Maintains the employee personnel record related to training, certifications, and professional development. This includes as-sisting with audits of personnel records, and department audits related to training and certification requirements.
• Responsible for creating flyers and communication materials for related events.

• Ability to present and translate materials and technical information to a wide range of audiences.
• Knowledge of HIPAA requirements, and ability to attend training within 30-days of employment.
• Ability to engage in work with an enthusiastic and motivational attitude is essential for the success of the posi-tion and for the training development program.
• Ability to uphold all principles of confidentiality fully, and adhere to all professional and ethical behavior stand-ards.
• Multi-tasking and stress management skills are essential for this position.
• Creative ability, writing proficiency, visual graphics design experience is preferred.
• Proficient organizational skills, time management skills and ability to manage individual and team tasks to meet deadlines, or department and employee needs.
• Public speaking ability and comfortable moderating large groups.
• Experience coordinating successful employee and supervisor training programs for a large workforce is pre-ferred.
• Experience working in multi-cultural environment is required.
• Must have the ability to attend and participate in workshops, seminars, in-service educational classes and on-the-job-training programs as directed with the ability to travel for professional development.
• Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with a project or task.
• Able to adapt to changing circumstances with little to no notice.
• Able to perform tasks from any environment deemed necessary such as in office, remote work or temporary of-fice arrangement while ensuring work quality and work flow is maintained.

What to Expect
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• There are several deadlines associated with this position, and employee must be able to handle frequent inter-ruptions.
• Interpersonal contacts include Suquamish Tribal Government employees, volunteers, and members of the com-munity in a variety of setting inside and outside of the Tribe.
• There will also be extensive contact with training vendors, work source programs, educational institutions and settings, and other individuals from tribal governments or business entities.
