University of Nevada, Reno Extension is a major unit of the University and resides in the College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources. Extension uses peer-reviewed research to find solutions to community-based issues and needs within six broad legislatively mandated areas: Agriculture; Children, Youth, and Families; Community Development; Health and Nutrition; Horticulture; and Natural Resources. Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking a dynamic, community-focused Extension County Coordinator to identify and bring in community educational programming in Lyon and Mineral Counties. This full-time position is based in Yerington, NV, with weekly travel to Hawthorne, NV, and reports directly to the Extension Northern Area Director.
The Extension County Coordinator plays a vital leadership role in identifying community needs, managing offices and staff, and facilitating community change through research-based programs. Through strong partnerships with county commissions, local agencies, and statewide experts, the Coordinator will support Extension educational programming in:
Agriculture and horticulture
Children, youth, and families
Community and economic development
Health and nutrition
Natural resources

What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary liaison between the University and local communities
Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with local governments, community groups, and university experts
Manage Extension offices in both counties and provide supervisory oversight for administrative and programming staff
Identify local needs and coordinate the implementation of statewide programs
Foster inclusive and culturally responsive outreach that engages diverse populations
Represent Extension in public settings and cultivate community trust
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of related professional experience, OR
Master’s degree and two (2) years of related professional experience
Related Experience: community education programming and office management, or a closely related field
This position requires the successful candidate to complete a criminal background and fingerprint check.

Licensure
A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license within 30 days of appointment.
Schedule and Travel
Work some nights and weekends
Moderate travel within the state with some overnight stays
Occasional out-of-state travel is required for conferences and meetings.
Compensation
Administrative Faculty – C
This position’s budgeted salary is $72,150.
