Training for Green Careers

The US Department of Energy offers Renewable Energy Webinars & Workshops – free of charge. Past presentations, materials, and recording are available for reference.

Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center (RCREC) is a one-of-a-kind educational facility where tribes from all over the nation can receive hands-on training on renewable energy applications from fellow Native American trainers. To date, over 150 tribal members have received training from LSE, with 40 earning their Solar Technician I certification from RCREC. With their new knowledge and skills, tribal members can return home to start beneficial renewable energy programs and businesses in their own communities.

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College offers an exciting program to train students for careers in the emerging field of clean energy technology. The Clean Energy Technician certificate program is a short-term program that combines courses in alternative and renewable energy systems with traditional electricity topic courses.

Lorain County Community College offers two Alternative Energy Technology programs. The Associate of Science degree in Alternative Energy Technology – Wind Turbine major trains students to become installation and maintenance professionals. Various educational pathways are available to those interested in Solar Technology, including short-term certificates, associate’s degrees, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Training in solar technology can also be paired with other degrees and experiences to expand career possibilities.

The Electrical Engineering & Renewable Energy (EERE) department at Oregon Tech offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Renewable Energy Engineering at two of the Oregon Tech campuses, the Klamath Falls campus in southern Oregon, and the Wilsonville campus, on the south end of the Portland metro area.
